Maintenance margin rate (MMR)

Auto uses min(0.5%, 0.5 ÷ leverage). Exchanges lower the maintenance rate for high-leverage tiers; check your venue's actual tier table.

Enter as percent (e.g. 0.05 for 0.05%).

Estimates only, not financial advice. Leveraged trading carries a high risk of losing your entire margin. Actual liquidation depends on each venue's margin tiers, fees, funding and mark price.

How to use this futures calculator

Choose long or short, enter your entry price and leverage, then set margin or notional size. The tool computes liquidation price, required margin, fees, and either PnL at an exit price or a scenario table of moves. Share your setup via the link in the results card.

What is leverage in crypto futures?

Leverage lets you control a larger position than your collateral. With 10x leverage and $100 margin, your notional exposure is about $1,000. Gains and losses apply to the full position, so small price moves have an outsized effect on your margin — and on liquidation risk.

How is liquidation price calculated?

This page uses isolated-margin, linear USDT-margined formulas (trading fees excluded from liquidation). Let E be entry, L leverage, and mmr maintenance margin rate as a decimal.

Long:   liq = E × (1 − 1/L + mmr)
Short: liq = E × (1 + 1/L − mmr)

Maintenance margin is the minimum equity ratio before the exchange closes the position. With Auto MMR we use min(0.5%, 0.5 / L) as a simple tier heuristic — real venues publish step tables per leverage bracket.

Worked examples

How PnL and ROE are calculated

Quantity Q = notional / entry. Gross PnL = direction × (exit − entry) × Q (long = +1, short = −1). Subtract open fee (notional × fee rate) and close fee (quantity × exit × fee rate). Net PnL divided by margin is ROE%. Break-even exit approximates fees with long E(1+f)/(1−f) and short E(1−f)/(1+f).

Is 1000x leverage safe?

For most traders, no. Very high leverage means liquidation sits a tiny move away, taker fees eat a larger share of margin, and funding can drift against you over time. Use high leverage only if you fully understand the risk and the venue's rules for your market.

FAQ

What is a crypto leverage calculator?
It estimates margin, liquidation, fees, PnL and ROE for a leveraged perp position before you trade.
How do I calculate liquidation price?
Use the long/short formulas above with your leverage and maintenance margin rate, then compare with your exchange's tier table.
What is maintenance margin?
The minimum collateral buffer required to avoid liquidation as the position moves against you.
Why does my exchange show a different liquidation price?
Funding, cross margin, fee buffers, mark price, and tiered MMR all shift the trigger. This tool is an isolated-margin estimate.
Which exchanges offer 1000x leverage?
Max leverage is venue- and market-specific. See the platform list in the tool when you set leverage above 100x (sourced from perp-dex-atlas).
What is ROE?
Return on equity — net PnL as a percentage of the margin you deposited.
Does this calculator include funding?
No. Funding is not included in PnL here.
Is 1000x leverage safe?
It is extremely risky; small adverse moves can liquidate the full margin.
